Very, very old and unfortunately very dingy. But definitely worth a visit. The owner has wonderful stories to tell. And perhaps it really is the oldest tobacco shop in the world.

I was here four years ago and really admired the tobacco shop. It is probably one of the oldest shops of this kind in Germany. I was back now and what can I say, he looks the same as always. Clean and please leave it as it is. This is now a historical highlight. This also applies indoors.

Cultural heritage through and through. Anyone who dares to go there no longer needs to fear anything in their life. One step into the store is enough to protect yourself from lung cancer for the next 10 years.

Anyone who enters the store enters a dilapidated room that is filled with black cobwebs under the ceiling and the air is filled with the damp, cold smell of mold. Since the back part of the small 15sqm room is not accessible, it is very tight there. The real treasures of pipes and lighters are not shown to advantage in the run-down restaurant. Hardly any selection of current smoking supplies. Would the friend who bequeathed the business to the current owner would have agreed to see this extraordinary gem in such poor condition?! “This special treasure” should be repaired and cared for so that it can shine with the charm of the 1800s. Unfortunately, all the extraordinary old objects lose their fascination...

When will the Zwiwwel actually be declared a world cultural heritage site?
